The Coney Island Diner Story
Since 1926, Coney Island Diner has been more than just a place to grab a meal. It’s been part of the heartbeat of downtown Mansfield. Founded by Greek immigrant John George, who introduced Mansfield to its very first “Coney Dog,” the diner quickly became a local institution built on simple food, familiar faces, and recipes people still talk about generations later.
Over the years, ownership has changed hands but the spirit of the diner has stayed remarkably intact.
Today, the menu remains rooted in timeless American comfort food: legendary coney dogs topped with the diner’s original secret-recipe sauce, crispy French fries, hand-spun milkshakes, hearty breakfasts, and homemade favorites that feel wonderfully untouched by passing trends.
At Coney Island Diner, the experience is part nostalgia, part hometown tradition, and part time machine with a side of fries. It’s the kind of place where stories linger as long as the coffee refills, and where generations of Mansfield families have gathered for 100 years.
